WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE WHEN STARTING HIGH SCHOOL?
Welcome to Gray’s Creek Highschool! You might be feeling a little apprehensive right now. Don’t worry – look around you. Every one of your classmates is in the same boat. Highschool is not as scary as it seems. Over the next four years, you will create so many memories with lifelong friends. You will be exposed to so many amazing opportunities and determine where your passions truly lie.
As you begin this new era in life, bear in mind: the people around you only want you to succeed. Yes… even that strict, outwardly severe teacher. Don’t be hesitant to ask them for help. Their job is to make sure you become competent in everything you do, and they would love nothing more than to be able to guide you in the right direction.
Gray’s Creek has so many clubs, sports, and activities to offer. Get involved! Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Participating in extracurriculars is a great way to make friends, become closer to the people you already know, and discover new hobbies. A diverse transcript also looks great to colleges! There is a preconceived notion that the things you do freshman year don’t matter in the long run. This couldn’t be farther from the truth; do your best freshman year, and it will make your entire high school career smoother. Your GPA starts now. In three years, don’t regret not bringing that C up to a B. Your future self will thank you.
All things considered, the most invaluable lesson to recognize, not just in highschool but in every part of your life, is to be yourself. Welcome to Gray’s Creek.
